What I did

  • Started building a model of the house, because I am planning an extension and want to see the options side by side.
  • The plot comes from the cadastre: two parcels, today merged into one, 1,864 m² together.
  • We set up a glossary, so that the house, the extension, the barn and the new house mean the same thing to both of us.
  • One rule holds from here on: draw nothing without exact information. Ask instead.
  • The setbacks from the neighbouring buildings and fences sit in the model as five-metre walls that can be hidden — along with the easement of the water main that crosses the plot. They show that the new house can only go forward and to the left.
